News: With the announcement more or less confirming Lego Harry Potter 2 as well.

Warner Bros. Interactive and Travellers Tales have gone and done the unexpected predictable and announced that Lego Harry Potter is in the works. In fact, they've more or less announced that two Lego Harry Potter games are in development. That's because today, the company announced that Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will be released in 2010, likely close to the November 19 theatrical opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. So its safe to assume that Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 will be coming in 2011. The game will be developed by Travellers Tales (the team behind all of the previous Lego Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman games), but which platforms it would appear on were not specified.

Like previous games in the series, Lego Harry Potter will mix puzzle-solving with platforming in a multiplayer Lego-ization of the Harry Potter world:

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will give gamers the chance to experience the magic and adventure of Harry Potter in a new and uniquely Lego way. Playing as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, as well as other favourite characters, gamers will have the opportunity to attend lessons, cast spells, mix potions, fly on broomsticks and complete tasks to earn house points. Throughout the game, players will also have the freedom to explore iconic settings from the wizarding world including Hogwarts castle, Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest and the village of Hogsmeade!

We'll have more soon.
