The ESRB's website has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII, the game to bring the Final Fantasy series (and Japanese-style RPGs in general) to the masses, will be added to the PlayStation Network sometime in the near future. As with all PSN games, the game (which has been available on the Japanese PlayStation Store since April), will be playable on both the PlayStation 3 and PSP.

That is, unless this listing refers to the long-rumored remake of Final Fantasy VII that gamers the world over would love to see. Beyond remaking key cutscenes from the game with PS3 hardware for display at E3's past, Square-Enix has always steadfastly refused to comment on the subject of a Final Fantasy VII remake.

Maybe this year's E3 will be the year they finally break down and realize the gaming public is literally begging to hand them truckloads of money.

We'll have more soon.
