News: id CEO Todd Hollenshead also discusses Rage, Quake Live and Wolfenstein.

Todd Hollenshead, the CEO of id Software, recently sat down with GameSpot and divulged id's plans for world domination. OK, he really just talked about id's upcoming projects, but when you represent the team that created Doom, plans for world domination should always be on your mind.

During the interview Hollenshead talked a little about Quake Live, Rage (id's Mad Max-inspired next game), the possbility of developing a Wii game, Doom 4 and id's E3 09 plans.

When asked about how id felt about the Wii, Hollenshead had this to say:

Now, maybe it's just that we don't know how to exploit it, and Nintendo does because they made the Wii, and they're really that good. And I'm not trying to take away from those guys at Nintendo. Their games are awesome--I'm a fan, too. But as a company that doesn't make Nintendo-type games, the Wii is less of a compelling platform for us to really sink a lot of resources into.

Needless to say, I don't think id will be making a Wii game anytime soon.

As for Doom 4, Hollenshead confirmed the game is still very early in development, but said that it wasn't a sequel to Doom 3, nor should it be considered a "reboot":

It's not a sequel to Doom 3, but it's not a reboot either. Doom 3 was sort of a reboot. It's a little bit different than those, and if I told you why, I would get my ass kicked when I got back. So I'll just have to leave it at that.

He also said that everything he's seen of the game so far is "classic Doom". How that jives with the previous confirmation that the game would be set on Earth remains

Finally, Hollenshead closed with confirmation that Raven Software's Wolfenstein will be at E3 09 along with a bunch of "new stuff" he can't talk about yet:

But what I expect is, I expect that we'll be showing Wolfenstein at E3, I expect that we'll have some new stuff at E3 that we haven't announced yet. So I don't want to pre-announce it now until I at least get a chance to talk to our partners that we would announce it with. That would be another subject of me getting my ass kicked. But yeah, we'll be at E3; it just won't be an id booth. It'll be games that will be there in other publishers' booths.

We'll have more soon.
