News: Abandon all hope, ye who enter here
In October, Variety revealed that Electronic Arts was working on a game based on "Inferno," the first part of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. Now, EA has confirmed the game is in the works and that EA Redwood Shores (the team behind the uber-cool Dead Space) will be developing it.
Dante's Inferno will retell Dante's journey through the nine circles of Hell (limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery) as an action-adventure game that turns Dante into an action hero out of Devil May Cry (whose protagonist was also named Dante, hmmm).
УThe time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience who, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art,Ф said Jonathan Knight, Executive Producer for Dante's Inferno. УIt's the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.Ф
EA did not say which platforms would be receiving the game, but Dead Space was released for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
