News: We'll find out in one month.

The newest issue of Nintendo Power is chock full of RPG goodness. In addition to revealing the full title of the Sonic RPG as Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, the big NP also has the following blurb in their Next Month section:

An Epic Unfolds
Next month's cover story is an RPG so fantastic, so engrossing, so epic, and so hush-hush that we'd have to erase your memories if we told you what it is. In fact, maybe we already did. Role-playing fans, get ready for a big one.

While that's a little vague, if there is a clue in that blurb, the "erase your memories" part is definitely it. And that can lead to some speculation on a few big hitters that mighht be coming to the Wii or the DS:

  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days - The Kingdom Hearts series is all about memory, and a DS sequel was announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show. Could this cover story be the confirmation of the game's American release? Maybe.

  • Mother 3 - A major character has their memory erased in Mother 3 (Earthbound 2). Could the sequel to one of the Super NES' greatest RPGs finally be coming to America?

  • Final Fantasy VII - This one is definitely a longshot, but created memories do play a big role in Final Fatnasy VII and "epic" would certainly be an appropriate description of the first 3D Final Fantasy title.

But all speculation aside, we'll find out in a month just what Nintendo means by an "epic RPG." I know I can't wait.
