News: We double check the latest rumors on Death Jr II Wii, Gauntlet DS, Gauntlet Wii and Kirby WiiWare.
Surfer Girl is at it again with a post-Thanksgiving batch of "rumors" that might have some credibility behind them. As it is our mission, we will double check these rumors and attempt to dig up the truth.
So here's what Surfer Girl had to say in a post entitled
November twenty-fourth things:
Surfer Girl says: "Backbone Entertainment is continuing the honorable tradition of bringing PSP titles to the Wii with Death, Jr. II: Root of Evil, which will be published by Konami sometime next year."
Our verdict: Possibility. Despite it's morbid setting, Death Jr. has always skewed towards a younger set and with the Wii Remote easily doubling as a scythe, I wouldn't put it past Konami to give this a shot.
Surfer Girl says: "Also coming next year from Backbone Entertainment is a version of Gauntlet for the DS, the hack-and-slash adventure will support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for multiplayer with up to four players. Gauntlet will also make an appearance on Nintendo's other system in the same timeframe."
Our verdict: Obvious Guess. It's been two years since Midway released a Gauntlet game and the company has never been one to shy away from even a moderately successful franchise. Another Gauntlet is coming, it's only a matter of time.
Surfer Girl says: "Kirby will be tilting and tumbling on WiiWare."
Our verdict: Obvious Guess. Kirby's tilt and stylus-based games have been very popular on the Game Boy and DS. A WiiWare title (with the Wii's built-in tilt functions) is almost a no-brainer.
Nintendo previously announced a Kirby game for the Wii, Kirby Adventure, for next year. Nothing has been revealed about that title yet, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that it will have tilt functions.
The Scorecard (Today): 2 Obvious Guesses and 1 Possibility.
The Scorecard (Overall): 6 Obvious Guesses, 2 bits of Old News and 1 Possibility.
