News: Marvel's mightiest heroes will receive new games courtesy of Sega.

Sega has announced they've reached a deal with Marvel Comics to create games for consoles, handhelds and the PC based on The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America.

The games will coincide with the release of new movies for each of these characters sometime in 2008 (for the Hulk) and sometime beyond (Captain America and Thor). It was revealed over the weekend that Edward Norton would take over the role of Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk. The film will be directed by Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed) and it is being written by Zak Penn (X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand).

This deal comes on the heels of a similar deal Sega struck with Marvel over the rights to an Iron Man game. That movie (and game adaptation) will also be released next Summer.

?Video games are an ideal medium to showcase the appeal and excitement of our Super Hero franchises,? said David Maisel, Chairman, Marvel Studios. ?Sega is one of the industry's most innovative game developers and we are thrilled to partner with them to bring Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and Thor to the video gaming arena. These franchises represent three of Marvel's most popular characters and lend themselves to captivating game play. We have already seen Sega's passion for the Marvel Universe through the early development of the Iron Man video game, and we look forward to working closely with them over the next few years to maximize the potential of these franchises in the interactive entertainment space.?

We'll have more on all things Marvel soon.
