News: The lowdown on Nintendo's latest platformer, Super Princess Peach.

Super Princess Peach has been making the import rounds at ridiculous speed. So much so that Nintendo has decided to bring the quirky platformer to America on February 27.

Bowser's finally gotten wise and kidnapped Mario, figuring that since he's the guy who normally does the rescuing, no one will be around to rescue him. He's in for a big surprise, though, because Peach is armed (with a parasol) and dangerous.

Yes, after reading countless articles playing off a variation on the "Why doesn't Bowser kidnap Mario?" joke, Nintendo has finally done it. Super Princess Peach will play much like a Mario platformer starring the Princess would. She'll collect coins, run, jump, save Toads and venture through eight "Worlds", each made up of several levels with a boss at the end.

But this being the Princess, she'll also be able to float like she could in Super Mario Bros. 2 and whack Goombas and Koopa Troopas with her pretty little parasol.

The Princess is also an emotional gal (I can hear the Internet protests bubblnig up already) and she also has four "Vibe Powers" that tap into those emotions.

These Vibe Powers are powered up by collecting and pulling a Yoshi on enemies by sucking them up with her parasol. These powers will be needed to advance through the levels and take down more powerful enemies.

The four Vibe Powers are selected with the touch screen and they are:

Joy: Peach whirls about like a cyclone, creating air currents that will spin windmills, clear away enemies or even lift her high into the air.

Rage: Peach catches fire, burning enemies and wood impediments.

Gloom: Peach weeps and runs incredibly fast, during which time she's invincible. Her tears can cause plants to grow, among other things.

Calm: Peach becomes invincible and slowly regains health.

We'll have more on Super Princess Peach very soon.
