O3 Entertainment has been a friend to the old school gamer and a friend to the GameCube in it's short life. They will be both again when they bring Chaos Field to the GameCube later this year.

Chaos Field is a top down shooter in the vein of the GameCube's previous hit Ikaruga and bears a little resemblence to a futuristic 1943.

The 2D shooting action will take place across five levels that have been broken into fifteen total stages. Players will be given three playable characters each with a unique arsenal that includes "beam weapons, missiles, shields, swords, special attacks, and the legendary Chaos Field." Of course, no one can be told what the Chaos Field is... because I don't know myself.

"Chaos Field is an excellent example of the new breed of arcade action coming out of Japan," commented Chris Jelinek, president of O~3 Entertainment. "Our philosophy is to make the hottest Japanese arcade games available to players in North America, and Chaos Field is just the first of many more to follow."

We'll have more on Chaos Field soon.

UPDATE: More came sooner than I thought. Here are the first four screenshots for Chaos Field.
