In an announcement that can only be described as "freakishly early", Activision has announced that they are currently developing a game based on the capper to the Spider-Man motion picture trilogy, Spider-Man 3. The movie has a tentative release date of May 2007 in theaters and the game would follow soon after. Activision was rather cagey when it came to which consoles would see Spider-Man 3, but by then we should all be playing our PlayStation 3s, Xbox 2s, and N5s.
In the more forseeable future, Activision has announced they are readying another Spider-Man game for release next year. Based on the forty year history of the comic, if history repeats itself, this newest Spider-Man game should release for all three current consoles. No other details were announced, but I'm sure we'll know after the release of the second movie.
And speaking of Spider-Man 2, Activision's game based on the film is scheduled for a June 30 release, coinciding with the movie's theatrical debut.
