News: First screens and new details on the gameplay, characters and plot.

Previously on 24, Sony Europe announced that 24 The Game was in development exclusively for the PS2.

Now they have even more to say as they have released a three minute trailer to the press. The clip is narrated by Kiefer Sutherland himself, on the set of 24, and he explains the ins and the outs of 24 The Game.

The trailer first raises more questions that were not raised in the press release. Like how President Palmer recovered from the assassination attempt and who ran the country while he was fighting for his life? Or how Chloe O'Brien first started working at CTU? Or how Kim and Chase first got together? Sutherland promises all of these will be answered in the game.

The clip also shows the character models of many of the cast members including Jack and Kim Bauder, Tony Almeida, Chase Edmunds and Michelle Dessler. It even shows Michelle as a playable character.

Gameplay looks to be broken down into stealth movement and straight shootouts. We are even shown Jack disarm a subject by shooting the gun out of his hand and then arresting him.

We also learn a little more about the interrogation mode that was talked about in the initial release. It plays out like a mini-game with each face button mapped to the four interrogation techniques: Aggressive, Coax, Calm and Break. It's probably likely that using a combination of these techniques will yield valuable intel or turn your subject into a blubbering mess. Either way, I'm hoping we get to hear Jack scream "Who are you working for?!" at some unsuspecting soul.

The sniper mode was shown briefly and predictably it looks the sniper mode in every other game. Vehicle sections were shown for an even shorter period of time and it's much too early to get a read on that part of the game.

The signature 24 splitscreen/clock combination was also shown and it looks beautiful. I'm very impressed with how the trailer managed to capture the feel of 24.

Officially only a European release at this point, I think it's safe to say SCEA will have something to say about 24 sooner or later. This is an American show starring American actors set in an American city with a plot largely centered around the life or death of the President of the United States. I will say it: 24 The Game is coming to America this fall.

And finally, courtesy of UK's finest, Games Press, here are the first 15 screens of 24.

24 The Game will be my project until it is released. Keep your browser peeled to Gaming Target where the news on 24 will always occur in real time.
