Specials: "I'd start a revolution if I could..."
Chapter One: The Beginning
It's about that time again. The current generation of home consoles are hitting their stride as we enter a holiday season that is literally packed full of highly anticipated, uber-secret, oft-delayed, mega-hit videogames that are sure to bankrupt any self-respecting gaming geek. However, what is even more important than what this holiday season has in store is the promise of what next year will be like. For Christmas (or Hanukkah) of 2005 you'll be begging for the newest system, not just the newest game.
Of course, no one has been whetting the appetites of videogame players longer than Nintendo has. They've got a stable of iconic characters whose mere presence in a game will spell almost certain retail victory. They've got a track record of revolutionizing the way that video games are played and a penchant for attempting the unthinkable and making us ask, "Why didn't someone think of this before?" So what do they have in store for us? They're not telling. And while there is no real surprise in their secrecy it doesn't keep us from wondering.
You might be asking yourself, "Self, why is it that Kyle taunts me with his hints of a new Nintendo system? Why would he be so mean?" Well, over the next few weeks I'm going to sit down and unearth all of the dirt that I can find pertaining to Nintendo's next big console and give it to you in all of it's speculative glory. I'll give it all up, right on down to my thoughts on what Nintendo must do to win the battle of the behemoths. Is there any juicy tidbit you'd like to see posted or debunked as part of this comprehensive collection? E-mail me the link, file, napkin drawing, or audio recording that contains the rumor and I'll address it. Did you lose my address? It's
