Bungie announces Halo 2 Map Pack @ Gaming Target

News: Let the rumors stop, here's the truth.

After weeks of speculation, and having their big announcement outed on the Korean offical Xbox site, Bungie has announced the final details about what is now called the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack.

The Map Pack will be released in retail outlets on June 28 for an MSRP of $19.99. As has been rumored, the Pack will feature nine new multiplayer maps. The Pack will also include a documentary on the making of the maps and an animated Halo 2 side story set on New Mombasa. The final piece of the disc will be the inclusion of every Halo 2 update released on Xbox Live so non-Live users can have the most up-to-date Halo 2 experience. Bungie also says the disc could have "one or two other treats."

Live users will be able to download the first four maps in late April. Two (Containment and Warlock) will be offered for a free download by Mountain Dew and two more (Sanctuary and Turf) will also be available to download for $5.99. The remaining five maps will be available on Live on June 28 for an $11.99 download. According to Bungie, by the late summer, all of the maps will be available to download for free.

Nothing is known about the other five maps other than their names: Terminal, Relic, Elongation, Gemini and Backwash.

Bungie has descriptions of the first four maps at their website and promises details on the next five "in the future."
