Playism has revealed that their new Metroidvania, Rusted Moss, is now available on PC via Steam. Rusted Moss engages the player in fast-paced bullet-hell inspired boss fights as they move quickly along with a grappling hook through desolate landscapes drenched in melancholy. Easy to learn, hard to master - Rusted Moss offers a challenge and adrenaline rush, but its accessibility options also allow for a more relaxed approach as well.
The Rusted Moss development team is an all-female group made up of three friends - Faxdoc, Happysquared, and Sunnydaze. Keen game jammers met while participating in GM48 Game Jam, a 48 hour game making marathon using GameMaker Studio. The team started working on Rusted Moss, based on the hook mechanics that Faxdoc played with, which they all thought was fun.
“When we released our demo and saw the reception to it, we were so surprised and thrilled to see the support we were getting. It was very encouraging and really drove us to explore avenues and expand the game in a way our original plans did not anticipate. It began a just-over-a-year-long journey in development when we had originally planned to only work on Rusted Moss for a few months,” the Rusted Moss development team says.
“The feedback of our demo players gave us the confidence and encouragement needed to help us along in making the largest scale game any of us have tackled. Now that release is around the corner, though we are a small team, we hope our delivery will be able to pay back and satisfy those that have supported us along the way.”
