News: Microsoft is implementing some new ideas and needs your help to see what works and what might not work.

Microsoft has just revealed that a new Xbox Home Experience is on the way for Xbox Series X|S. They said they are focused on making it quicker and easier to play your favorite games, as well as find the next game that might become your favorite. So with that being the case, they are launching a multi-month series of experiments to see how they can best create a more personalized experience while addressing some of the top requests from the community.

Beginning this week, a random subset of Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring will begin to see some changes. There will be some layout changes, design, and ease of access changes as different approaches are explored. Microsoft is also exploring the option of new game channels and collections when you scroll down that will include content specifically selected for you based on the games you have played. They are also playing around with some ideas on how to make the most out of your Game Pass subscription.

The key updates in this first round of preview updates include:

  • The new “Jump back in” row gives you quick access to your most recently played games and apps.

  • Easily access important system apps like Settings, Store, Search, and My Games & Apps with their own dedicated tiles on the Xbox Home page.

  • Consistent design and visual identifiers with updated layouts to keep the experience familiar.

  • When you scroll down, you’ll see curated categories and recommendations tailored to your gaming preferences.

  • Microsoft stated that they know getting this experience to be the best it can be will take some time, so that is why they are rolling these new ideas out slowly and will be iterating over the next few months. If you are someone who receives these new updates, be sure to report your thoughts to Microsoft so you can help with the development, especially if you run into some problems. If you are an Xbox Insider and need to report something, you can do so at the Xbox Insider subreddit. There are official Xbox staff, moderators, and fellow Xbox Insiders there to try and help you out.

If you want more information on the Xbox Insider program in general, you can follow them on Twitter at @XboxInsider.
