News: Indie games are going to be in the spotlight at Gamescom this year whether you are there in person or at home.
Indie Arena Booth (IAB), the world’s largest indie game showcase, returns to Gamescom 2022 from Wednesday, August 24, to Sunday, August 28, 2022, in a massive 1.500 m2 physical booth in Hall 10.2. Those unable to attend Gamescom can still experience more than 130 titles in an online interactive experience.
Play, collect, and level up in the IAB’s award-winning online game featuring eight creatively designed worlds filled with exhibitors from more than 30 different countries, accessible from anywhere in the world. Exclusive demos and sales are
available online from now until August 30 on Steam. Gamescom attendees can also expect an intuitive, easy-to-navigate experience.
The IAB will recognize eight titles in an award show hosted by Shay Thompson on Friday, August 26, at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 8 pm CEST. Various awards will be distributed for Best Overall Game, Best Booth, Best Multiplayer (sponsored by Bitburger 0.0 %), Best Unity Game (sponsored by Unity), Best Business Promising (powered by Xsolla), and more to be revealed at the ceremony. Indies showcased in the IAB will be spotlighted in additional ways.
Streaming segments will be hosted on the
IAB’s official Twitch channel throughout the show by popular YouTuber and Twitch content creators from across the globe including Strawburry17plays, Lara Loft, Trisha Hershberger, Dennsen86, h0llyLP, and Frodoapparat. Co-founder of What’s Good Games, Andrea Rene, will hold a segment focused on disability and diversity on Saturday, August 27, at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET / 7 pm CEST.
“We know traveling overseas is still a challenge, so our online game and streams are ways for everyone to participate, no matter where they’re at,” said Valentina Birke, Project Director, Indie Arena Booth. “We’ve developed a world-leading online experience so everyone who cannot make it will feel like they are there right alongside the tens of thousands attending Gamescom 2022.”
