Stray is now available on PlayStation and PC from BlueTwelve Studio. The cat in Stray does not have a name because is a stray. The character in the game is inspired by a real-life cat though named Murtaugh (pictured below). Murtaugh was an actual stray that was found under a car in France. He was rescued though and served as the inspiration for this cute feline adventure.
The team at BlueTwelve Studio worked hard on making the stray in the game believable going through many iterations during the development. It was important to them that they captured the cat’s personality, including its cuteness, playfulness, and more.
Murtaugh
In addition to Maurtaugh being the inspiration, there is also Oscar. Oscar is a Sphynx and helped for video reference purposes for some of the jumps and runs in the game. The programmers worked long hours to try and really nail the basic movements of the main character until they were able to get everything just right.
Oscar
Jun is another cat that was regularly at the studio but he appears to have been there in a supervisory capacity.
Stray is now available on PlayStation and PC. If you have the PlayStation Plus Extra or PlayStation Plus Premium tier you can download it at no extra charge. If you have the PlayStation Plus Essentials tier you can buy the game for $29.99.
