News: Get the whole bundle at a nice discount right now before the games begin arriving in July.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster

Square Enix recently revealed that they will be re-releasing some of the older Final Fantasy titles that haven’t got as much attention as others over the years. More specifically, the very first Final Fantasy through Final Fantasy VI will be a part of a Pixel Remaster bundle. In a strange move, Square revealed these would only be released on PC and mobile platforms, at least for now. I fully expect this collection to eventually make their way to consoles but it is really strange how they won’t be there in the beginning.

Up until now we didn’t know when these games would be arriving but fortunately that piece of information has been revealed. For starters, all six games won’t come out at the same time. There is currently a bundle on Steam where you can pre-order all six games at a discount for $74.82. If you pre-order this bundle you will also receive all soundtracks and wallpapers from Final Fantasy 1 to Final Fantasy 6.

Each game will have updated 2D pixel graphics and a rearranged soundtrack. Square has modernized the UI and provided some extras such as an illustration gallery, bestiary, and a music player that will pull you further into the experience. It should be noted however that these newly developed remaster editions are based on the original titles. What that means is that some changes and additional elements found in other remakes of these games most likely will not be included.

Final Fantasy 1, Final Fantasy 2, and Final Fantasy 3 will be released on July 28th at 10am Pacific. Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 5, and Final Fantasy 6 will be “coming soon” but if you purchase the bundle they should automatically download for you once they have been released.
