News: You can now try before you buy with the latest Yooka-Laylee title and if you decide you want to buy, your save from the demo will carry over.

If you want to try out Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair but you aren’t sure if you will like it, good news. Team17 and Playtonic Games have announced that a demo is available to download for free on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Store and PC via Steam. This demo has no time limit so there aren’t any interruptions in you playing it to decide on whether or not you want to buy the full version. If you decide that you like the game and do want to purchase it the save from the demo will carry over, meaning you won’t have to start all over again.

Set after the climactic battle of the original 2017 3D platformer, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, this brand new adventure sees the colorful chameleon and bat duo attempt to free Queen Phoebee’s kingdom by releasing her captured Beettalion across the colorful game world. Throughout the game, players can attempt to tackle Capital B’s latest and greatest threat yet – the eponymous Impossible Lair itself.

Some of the key features you’ll find in Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair includes:

  • Set across 40 levels within an expansive and interactive 3D Overworld.

  • Uncover new secrets and puzzles that dynamically transform the environment into brand-new experiences.

  • Silky-smooth 60fps across all platforms.

  • Tonics return, with game-modifying potions that give players the ability to customize their adventure with character skins, graphical filter effects, and difficulty modifiers.

  • Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is available digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99. Physical editions are available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch at selected retailers globally. Will you be downloading this new demo? Let us know in the comments below.
