The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is going to be released in two days for the Nintendo Switch. Leading up to that release we have a new video from Nintendo giving you a general overview of what you can expect. For those who might not have played the original and might not have kept up with the development of the remake, the premise for Link’s Awakening is below:
Link has washed ashore on a mysterious island with strange and colorful inhabitants. To escape the island, Link must collect magical instruments across the land and awaken the Wind Fish. Explore a reimagined Koholint Island that’s been faithfully rebuilt in a brand-new art style that will entice fans and newcomers alike. Battle enemies as you conquer numerous dungeons and uncover the hidden secrets of the island. Encounter Super Mario enemies like Goombas, Piranha Plants, and more, and interact with unique locals who help Link on his adventure.
Some of the key features in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening include:
As Link, explore a reimagined Koholint Island and collect instruments to awaken the Wind Fish to find a way home.
Explore numerous dungeons, riddled with tricks, traps, and enemies, including some from the Super Mario series.
Meet and interact with unique locals to get help on your adventure.
Listen to a reawakened soundtrack that helps bring life to Koholint Island.
In addition to all of that, there is a new feature where you can create your own dungeon. This is not nearly as deep as Super Mario Maker 2 but Nintendo has hinted that if enough people enjoy this and it gets popular enough, perhaps there will be a The Legend of Zelda Maker at some point. You can check out the video below for a sneak peek about how it will all work.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will arrive on the Nintendo Switch on September 20, 2019. It will be available for $59.99 in stores and on the eShop. There will also be some new Amiibo released that you can pick up that will help you in Link’s Awakening, including potentially adding to the dungeon maker aspect. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is also a title that is eligible for the digital pass program from this summer. If you bought digital game passes on the eShop back in July when Nintendo was selling them, you can use one to “buy” Link’s Awakening and download it.
