Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is going to be released soon. Recently Modus Games sat down with the writer, art director, producer, and vice president of Frozenbyte to go behind-the-scenes with Trine 4’s art and story. The video (see below) comes from inside Frozenbyte Studio and goes over the overarching story of the Trine series, where you will learn about the inspirations behind the look of Trine 4.
In this video you are able to view concept art from the various Trine games and in-studio footage of artists’ work in progress, get a glimpse of two Trine 4 boss battles, and discover real-world Finnish flora and fauna that inspired the newest Trine game. Drawing inspiration from Finland’s stunning wilderness, Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince’s lush environments deliver an enchanting array of surreal vistas. But, the beauty of these vibrant lands is overcast by Prince Selius’ evocations, which are spreading a foreboding, violet-tinted darkness with their menacing presence.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince marks the series’ return to its side-scrolling platforming roots, standing as the first in the series to accommodate teams of four and dynamically shift its puzzles based on a party’s headcount. Adventurers can dive right into the series’ latest entry on launch day, or revisit the entire story thus far by picking up Trine: Ultimate Collection, which also releases on Oct. 8 and will include Trine Enhanced Edition, Trine 2: Complete Story, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, and Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince.
Digital pre-purchases are now available for Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince and Trine: Ultimate Collection on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and GOG. Users who pre-purchase Trine: Ultimate Collection on PlayStation 4 will get instant access to Trine Enchanted Edition, Trine 2: Complete Story, and Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power. All digital pre-orders will also include launch day access to the bonus DLC level Toby’s Dream.
