News: Ubisoft has revealed that a new mode is going to be available for free where you can go head to head against your friends.

Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is getting a free versus mode today. This new mode will pit you against a friend on the same system and will be playable with either two controllers or with a pair of Joy-Con controllers. In Versus mode you will need to select three hero squads and then use every bit of their offensive skills to reign supreme in surprise filled maps.

The way that this is going to work is that each player has three available actions per turn. You will need to use some strategy to decide when you want to use a particular ability or move. Do you want to try and get your party into position so one of them can use one of their many skills or will you try and think strategically to try and set yourself up for a future turn?

It should also be noted that it won’t matter if you have gone through the campaign for versus mode. Regardless of how leveled up your characters are in the main story, everyone will get to select from upgraded versions of all eight characters. It will be completely up to you which loadout you decide to go with, which will also help to determine your strategy during the game. While playing you will want to be on the lookout for optional power-ups that will be scattered across the map that could help to turn the tide of battle in your favor. If you aren’t paying attention or ignore these power-ups then you might get the short end of the stick when your opponent takes advantage of whatever gift they receive from those question mark blocks.

The versus mode can also be played as quickly as you would like, in case you are in a hurry and only have a few minutes. You will be able to limit matches to seven or ten turns if you so choose along with setting either a short, medium or long time limit for each turn.

If this content isn’t available to you yet just keep checking as it is set to be released today, December 8. Take a look at the trailer for this new versus mode and tell us what you think. Will you be competing with your friends in this new mode?
