Final Fantasy IX is coming to the PlayStation 4 if a recent rating is any indication. Gematsu discovered that the Pan European Game Information board has rated this Final Fantasy classic just days before Tokyo Game Show. While no official announcement has been made yet this implies that Final Fantasy IX will appear at some point in the PlayStation Store, similar to Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy IX is currently available on PC where you can buy it through Steam so odds are that is the version that we would most likely get, complete with trophies.

Originally released in 2000 on the original PlayStation, Final Fantasy IX tells the story of the bandit Zidane Tribal, who plans to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, Garnet Til Alexandros the 17th, with the troupe of thieves known as Tantalus. An unlikely series of events set Zidane, Garnet, the shy yet powerful black mage Vivi Ornitier, the loyal knight Adelbert Steiner, and other memorable characters on an epic journey as they learn about themselves, the secrets of the Crystal, and a malevolent force that threatens to destroy their world.

Some of the features that the PC version of Final Fantasy IX have that will most likely make their way to PS4 include the following:

  • High-definition movies and character models

  • New cloud save feature allows players to back up save data to play across other compatible devices

  • Auto save function

  • Seven all-new booster features, including high speed mode and no encounter mode, which will allow players to automatically master equipped weapons and gear, as well as maximize character levels, magic stone counts and gil

  • Check out an image of the rating below, as well as the trailer, and tell us what you think. Keep in mind that nothing is official until you see an announcement from Square Enix and the trailer below is for the PC version but this all looks pretty convincing. If you want to look up the rating for yourself, click here. Otherwise tell us what you think below. Would you buy Final Fantasy IX on PS4?
