The original Syberia title is coming to the Nintendo Switch. In a rather odd move, Microids revealed earlier today that they are bringing the original Syberia to the Switch later this year. It is odd simply because Syberia 3 came out earlier this year, so if they were going to bring the franchise to Nintendo’s latest console, you would think they would just bring over the trilogy in one package.
Thanks to the modularity of the Nintendo Switch though, you will now be able to play Syberia anywhere. You can sit at home in front of your nice big television and relive this classic title or perhaps go through it for the first time on your commute to and from work. This version for the Nintendo Switch is developed by Koalabs and will become available on the Nintendo Switch eShop on October 20.
For those who might not be familiar with Syberia 1, the premise is below:
”Kate Walker, a young New York lawyer, is dispatched to deal with the sale of a former automaton factory hidden in the French Alps. She never thought that this task, as simple as it seemed, would change her life forever. She quickly embarked on a journey into the confines of Eastern Europe, accompanied by a very peculiar automaton named Oscar. Together they discover incredible places, filled with colorful characters, before meeting Hans Voralberg: the genius inventor, following the trails of the last mammoths found on the mythical island of Syberia, which also happens to be the last piece of the puzzle to conclude the sale and the mission of Kate.”
