Call of Duty: Black Ops II is now backwards compatible on Xbox One. This will make a bunch of gamers very happy as Black Ops II was by far the most requested title that people wanted to see enter the Xbox One backwards compatible library. The Call of Duty franchise is being well represented on the Xbox One with Black Ops II being the fifth Call of Duty title to go backwards compatible. The full list includes:

  • Call of Duty 2

  • Call of Duty 3

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II

  • Call of Duty: World At War

  • What this also means is that the entire Call of Duty: Black Ops trilogy is now available to be played on your Xbox One. Call of Duty: Black Ops II was unique in that there were multiple endings that were determined by some of your actions during the course of the campaign, a first for the franchise. Call of Duty: Black Ops II is also currently on sale as part of Microsoft’s annual Spring Sale so if you don’t have it (or you simply want the digital version) then you can save a few dollars picking it up for $19.99 instead of the normal price of $24.99.

If you own the physical version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II you will need to insert the disc into your Xbox One and then initiate the installation. Once you do it will ping the Xbox Live servers and tell you that you need to download an update. That update is the game itself which in this case is about 16gb. Please keep in mind that if you install the game in this manner that you will need the disc in the Xbox One whenever you want to play the game, unless you purchase the digital license at a later time. If you own the digital version then it should be sitting there waiting for you in the “Ready to Install” section in the Games & Apps section. Just begin the download and you will be good to go.

Now that Call of Duty: Black Ops II is finally backwards compatible, what game do you want to see be added to the list next? Tell us what you think below.
