The Nintendo Switch is coming out in March 2017. Nintendo just made an appearance on The Tonight Show to show off Super Mario Run which is their first mobile game with Mario what will be available on iOS on December 15 but the big news of the segment was that they brought along a Nintendo Switch unit for Jimmy Fallon to try out. In addition to Reggies Fils-Aime being there to show all of this off, Shigeru Miyamoto was also there in the crowd. Jimmy is a huge Nintendo fan (and a huge gamer in general) and he was completely freaking out getting a chance to actually play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch. He also appeared to have a lot of fun with Super Mario Run and afterwards he asked Mr. Miyamoto how he did and then received a thumbs up.
Reggie was there explaining how everything works on the Nintendo Switch and Jimmy was there talking about some features that Reggie didn’t mention. Reggie talked about how in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild if you see something in the distance then you can go there, similar to like a Skyrim. He then showed one of many ways you can use to eliminate some enemies. During this whole time this being shown on a big screen on the Tonight Show stage. Reggie then put down the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller that he was using and undocked the Switch and then handed it to Mr. Fallon to play around with for a couple minutes. In the incredibly short time that we saw the Switch in action it looked very impressive and there didn’t appear to be any input lag at all while playing on the Switch portable.
After all of that was done Mr. Miyamoto performed the Super Mario Bros. Theme with the Roots (the Tonight Show band). Check out the videos below to watch all of this go down and tell us what you think. Next month on January 12 Nintendo is holding a big event where they will presumably release a lot of information, including the actual release date for this new console as well as the price point. Hopefully that will also be when pre-orders open up because they are not available at this time (at least in the U.S.).
What do you think about the Nintendo Switch? After watching the videos below and with everything that we know, do you plan on picking one up in March?
