News: Sony has revealed who the cover athlete for next year’s MLB game will be and it is the return of a legend.

The World Series is currently taking place between the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs so what better time to reveal the cover athlete for Sony’s next baseball title? Earlier today it was announced that Ken Griffey Jr. will be returning to the digital diamond almost twenty years after his last appearance as the cover athlete for MLB The Show 17.

Destined for greatness, no player entered the Big League with more hype than the first pick of the 1987 MLB draft, and no player entered baseball’s Hall of Fame with a higher percentage of the vote than “The Natural.” A legend both on and off the field, “The Kid” inspired a generation of baseball fans with electric play, a contagious smile, enviable flair, and a swing that’s been imitated but never duplicated for almost three decades.

If you are a big man of Sony’s MLB franchise then you can pre-order and receive 10 bonus Standard Packs and a Ken Griffey Jr. card for The Show 17 when you pick up or download the game. If you happen to pre-order at Gamestop specifically you will receive an additional 5 Standard Packs bringing your total to 15. Additionally, if you pre-order on the PlayStation Store, you will instantly receive 11,000 Stubs for The Show 16.
