E3 2016: Prey is Back and Will Be Available in 2017

News: Bethesda and Arkane Studios have brought Prey back from the dead with a rebooting of the franchise set for release in 2017.

One of the big surprises of the night at Bethesda’s E3 press conference was the return of Prey. The original came out in 2006 and the sequel was in full development, even showing up at E3 a number of years back. For whatever reason the sequel got cancelled though and we were left to assume the franchise was finished. That is apparently not the case as Prey is coming back and it looks like it is rebooting the franchise instead of being a sequel.

In Prey, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station, your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities.

“At Arkane, our passion for creating unique worlds where you can improvise, experiment and play your way has driven our vision for Prey,” said Raphael Colantonio, president and co-creative director at Arkane Studios. “We’re excited to show you more of the sci-fi world we’re creating at QuakeCon this summer.”

Not much else was said about the game but they did release a trailer so check out below and tell us what you think. No release date was given other than 2017. Are you excited for a new Prey game?
