News: Watch Dogs 2 is coming this year and it will be located in the San Francisco Bay Area where a lot of technology and connectivity are created.

Watch Dogs 2 is officially being released this year on November 15, 2016. The setting is the San Francisco Bay Area which is considered to be the hub of technology and connectivity. With that being the case it is a natural fit for version 2.0 of ctOS, the software that collects and controls information in Watch Dogs 2.

You will play as Marcus Holloway. Holloway is a young hacker from Oakland who works with another hacker, DedSec, to fight back against the ctOS. Marcus can essentially hack just about every mechanical or electronic thing in the game which means you will have a vast playground to cause destruction in Watch Dogs 2. You can use this to cause timely distractions such as remotely taking control of a car and driving it to make a roadblock for enemies or for whatever use you deem appropriate. The development team at Ubisoft has said that each vehicle feels unique and that you will probably want to try them all as you race down San Francisco’s iconic hillside at a hundred miles an hour.

Marcus has personal reasons for doing what he does that we will no doubt learn about throughout the course of the game. In Watch Dogs 2 success is based on completing missions, however, how you do that is completely up to you. If you want to rush in with guns blazing and wipe out an area you can do that. If you want to do it from a safe distance you can hack into something (such as a car like we mentioned above) and create chaos that way. Or you can go the stealth route where no one will ever know you were in the area. The decision is up to you how you want to approach any given situation.

The world has a plethora of missions that you can do in any order and each one has a storyline attached. There will be a bunch of side missions as well or you can simply choose to explore the Bay Area as you see fit and accrue followers to your cause that way. Ubisoft also claims there will be a seamless online experience where other hackers will be brought into your game without needing menus, loading screens or any of that nonsense.

The San Francisco Bay Area is very diverse and that is going to be represented in Watch Dogs 2. There will be representations of six well known Bay Area regions including San Francisco, Oakland, Marin County and Silicon Valley. Each area will look how it does in real life such as Silicon Valley being full of techies, students and tech companies.

Check out the world premiere announcement that Ubisoft released this morning showing off some of Watch Dogs 2 and letting us know that we can go to the Bay Area this fall on November 15, 2016.
