News: Online multiplayer support is going to be released later this year along with other features that have never been in a Rock Band game before.
Rock Band 4 was released last fall and since then has been release a steady stream of songs for you to purchase if you so desire. This past weekend at PAX East Harmonix revealed a big new feature that is headed to Rock Band 4 this holiday season and that is the addition of synchronous online multiplayer.
Synchronous online multiplayer will be like Quickplay, modified to provide a fair and streamlined experience for people looking to play Rock Band 4 online together. Harmonix has even promised to have some “secret sauce” that will address the issues that are created by people not having the same exact DLC libraries. They don’t go into any more detail than that but it is interesting that they are looking at how to solve this potential problem.
In addition to the online multiplayer announcement there were some other items revealed. These included:
Battleborn characters available as playable characters in Rock Band 4 coming in May
Double Kick Pedal support coming in May
Practice mode coming in June
ION drums support for Xbox One coming in the fall from PDP
An expansion pack for Rock Band 4 in the fall featuring big new features
This week’s DLC comes from Weezer, The Romantics and Lamb of God
