News: If you were looking forward to playing the Street Fighter V beta this weekend then Capcom has some bad news for you.

”Street

Street Fighter V is coming out next year on PlayStation 4 and fans have been looking forward to taking it for a test drive during the beta that set to take place beginning yesterday. Unfortunately Capcom’s servers seem to have imploded. Yesterday when the beta was beginning almost no one could get into to the game to play it and those who could were basically just in the training room. It quickly became apparent that there were some serious issues going on and it didn’t take very long until Capcom started issuing statements. At first they appeared to be trying to fix the servers as problems popped up. That didn’t work though and now Capcom has said they are taking everything off line for an “extended period.” The beta hasn’t been cancelled but it has been postponed so if you have been wanting to play Street Fighter V you are going to have to wait a bit longer.

Unfortunately no timeframe was given for when things will be fixed and gamers can get their first taste of Street Fighter V. The Street Fighter V bet was supposed to begin with four characters: Ryu, M. Bison, Chun-Li and Nash. Capcom revealed that Cammie and Birdy would also be added by Saturday. That was, of course, before the whole thing was taken down due to Capcom’s netcode not working properly, which means everyone was having matchmaking problems and couldn’t get into the game to play. Capcom issued the following statement,

“We apologise for the ongoing issues that users have been experiencing with the Street Fighter 5 beta test. In order to allow us to fix the issues as quickly as possible, we are going to initiate a period of extended maintenance, during which time the beta will be unavailable to all users.

"We will let you know the date on which the closed beta test will re-open once all problems have been fixed. We sincerely apologise for having to bring this unfortunate news to you. Thank you for your patience. Please stay tuned for further updates."

What do you think about this? Have you been trying to play the Street Fighter V beta? Will you be picking it up when it arrives on PlayStation 4 next year? Tell us what you think below.
