Sierra has just released the latest developer diary from the upcoming King’s Quest. Titled “King’s Quest – A Hand Painted Game,” this video takes you behind the scenes with Art Director Evan Cagle and Producer Lindsey Rostal, of The Odd Gentlemen, to see how the artwork of King’s Quest is born on the page, before coming to life on screen.
For developer The Odd Gentlemen, creating a fantastic but compelling world, true to the spirit of King’s Quest, required going back to the lessons of old. Beginning with 1990’s King’s Quest V, Sierra devised a way for its artists to draw out their ideas in vivid color and detail before scanning them into the game for further polishing. Now, 25 years later, the team is employing a similar technique to give this incredible reimagining of a classic tale the truly stunning storybook look it deserves.
The first chapter of King’s Quest is expected to arrive later this year as a digital download on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. Are you looking forward to King’s Quest? Will you be downloading this game when it becomes available later this year? Take a look at the trailer below and tell us what you think.
