News: Microsoft has revealed that Shovel Knight is coming to Xbox One and when it arrives it will feature an appearance by Battletoads.

Battletoads are making their return next month on Xbox One but not in the way you might have envisioned. It was revealed earlier today at GDC that Shovel Knight will be hitting Xbox One in April and the Xbox One version will indeed feature the Battletoads. Not a whole lot is known about their involvement in the game other than what you can see in the video below.

It was also revealed that Elite: Dangerous from Frontier Developments will be coming to Xbox One this summer. It is being developed by famed designer and Frontier CEO David Braben and combines elements of space adventure, resource trading and combat simulation to create a wholly unique experience.

A new partnership was also revealed when Microsoft revealed that they will be working with Motiga to bring its first game, Gigantic, to both Xbox One and Windows 10. Gigantic is a five-on-five third person battle arena game with a fantasy art style where you select from a group of heroes with different play styles and powers and you have to make your way through areas to defeat your opposition’s Guardian, while trying to protect your own Guardian. Utilizing Xbox Live, Microsoft revealed that cross-device play will be in this game and that the game is being optimized for both keyboard and mouse as well as controller.

In addition to those announcements Microsoft released a new video where they had some independent developers talking about bringing their games to both Xbox One and Windows 10. Be sure to check out the video below and tell us what you think. Are you excited to see Battletoads in Shovel Knight? Which independent game would you like to see arrive on Xbox One?

Please note: If you want to skip ahead to the part of the video with the Battletoads then start the video at 3:27.
