News: Microsoft has rolled out an update to the November update for preview members that allow you to create your own background image.
The November update for Xbox One began arriving for preview members earlier this week and Microsoft already has a big addition they are adding to it. According to Major Nelson you can now make your own background image for your Xbox One and it seems like it is fairly easy to do so. Once you receive the latest update you can use the media player to create customized Xbox One backgrounds using your own pictures. The way it works is as follows:
Connect a USB to your Xbox One or connect a source through DLNA
Launch Media Player (either directly or through Settings > My Xbox > My Background > Custom Image)
Navigate to source of your choosing (USB/DLNA)
Navigate to folder/file of your choosing
Select the jpg/png image and see it in full screen
Once you are viewing the picture full screen, hit the menu button
You can now select “Set as background”
You will be sent back to the full screen view of the image. Hit the Nexus button and see your new image
In addition to giving Xbox One gamers this new functionality, the team has also created a Photoshop template so you can see what parts of your pic will be blocked by the tiles. You can download this template on Major Nelson’s website.
