News: Bungie has revealed that they are working on a new patch that will be available next week that will change how engrams are decoded and more.
Bungie is hard at work making sure your experience with Destiny is the best it can be and they have been really transparent about the steps they are taking to achieve that goal. Earlier today they released a “1.0.2 Patch Preview” on their website addressing what some feel are the biggest flaws in Destiny.
For starters there will be some changes with the Cryptarch. Once this update goes live, legendary engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics. Rare engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items. Rare engrams will also have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items. There will be some activity changes as well as Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary engrams in addition to their existing rewards.
Additionally, there will be some item changes. Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade. Also, please note, Legendary engrams that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when this patch goes live next week, so decode them while you can..
This new patch will be released sometime next week. Bungie has not revealed an exact date but these changes will not go into effect until after the patch is released. Only engrams that drop after patch 1.02 is installed are subject to this change.
