News: Microsoft has revealed when you can walk in a store and buy a Kinect without the console as well as what the price will be.

”Kinect

Microsoft started offering the option to purchase an Xbox One without a Kinect back in June and said they would sell Kinect separately later on this year. Well Microsoft has just told us when we can expect to see Kinect on store shelves. Beginning on October 7, you can walk in to your favorite game stores and purchase the Kinect for Xbox One independently of the console.

Kinect for Xbox One will be available for $149.99 and come with the latest Dance Central game, Dance Central Spotlight. Dance Central Spotlight is a digital download that will feature 10 hot tracks to start and then you have the ability to further build your playlist by buying other songs a la carte.

Those who have actually used Kinect for Xbox One tend to enjoy it as it can do quite a bit of stuff outside of its gaming implications. Kinect includes voice and gesture controls, biometric sign-in, instant personalization, instant scanning of QR codes, enhanced features with game that support it and much more. Personally speaking it is a pretty cool experience to walk in to a room and simply say “Xbox, On” and then have my console turn on. Recently I wanted to check to see if my console had a pending system update to download so I simply turned on the console, navigated the UI and the system settings and then shut down the console all without touching my controller.

If you happen to do something cool in a game, such as score the winning touchdown or take down that final boss that has been giving you problems you can also say “Xbox, Record That” and it will capture the last 30 seconds of action and then upload to Xbox Live for all of your friends to see. You can also use the DVR function on there to create much longer clips and even use Upload Studio to combine multiple video clips. Skype is also on Xbox One and you use Kinect to talk with friends and family with not only your voice but also able to see them in high definition. If you have your cable television subscription hooked up to your Xbox One you can also control your television and set top box with your voice, change the volume or go to one of your favorite channels by simply saying, “Xbox, watch ESPN”.

The cheaper route is to get the Xbox One bundle with Kinect for $499 but if you chose to go another route you now have the option of purchasing a Kinect separately. The original Kinect was released years ago for $149.99 and with the Kinect for Xbox One being an overall better product with nicer tech in it, it is nice to see that price didn’t go up.

Will you be purchasing a Kinect for Xbox One on October 7? Let us know what you think below.
