News: Activision reveals that the Xbox One version of Amazing Spider-Man 2 probably won’t be out on time but will still be on PS4 on April 29.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 is coming out later this month on April 29 and was supposed to come out on all consoles, however, it looks like the Xbox One version might be missing come launch day. Going to the official web site of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 you can clearly see the box art for each version of the game, with the Xbox One box art conspicuous by its absence. Up until now The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had been officially announced for Xbox One, however, there appears to now be some problems. When we noticed this we reached out to Activision for comment and this is what they had to say,
“We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One. Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC on April 29, 2014 as previously announced.”
What does this mean? Well, obviously, it means the Xbox One version is going to be delayed. What could possibly be the reason for the delay though? Is it having trouble making it through Microsoft’s certification process? Is the development team running into trouble with the Xbox One hardware? It really is anyones guess at this point. The only thing that we know for certain is that the PS4 is now the exclusive home for the “next gen” version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, at least for a little while.
For all we know the Xbox One version could show up a week later but why is it missing the original release date when all of the other versions are still coming out that day? What do you think? Tell us your thoughts below.
