MacBook Black Friday News: Black Friday is under way, and even the high-priced MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops are shaving a little off the top.

Black Friday MacBook Pro and MacBook Air deals 2013

Black Friday 2013 is making Apple’s MacBook Pro with Retina display even more desirable at online stores like Amazon and Best Buy thanks to slight discounts. While this top-of-the-line computer model is still pricey, both stores manage to discount it a little bit.

The 13-.3-inch MacBook Pro Retina starts at $1,696.99 at Amazon and comes with pre-build specs: 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 512GB flash storage and 8GB of RAM.

The very same configuration is almost $100 more at Best Buy, where the computer is retailing for $1,794.99. Unless you need to pick it up right away, save your money by purchasing this Black Friday deal at Amazon today.

While Amazon beats Best Buy in this round, the electronics chain come out ahead with the souped-up 15-.4-inch MacBook Pro Retina costing $244.9.99. Model number ME294LL/A for this Apple computer features a 2.3 GHz Intel Core-i7 quad-core processor, 16GB of memory and 512GB of flash storage along with that larger display. Amazon is selling the same specs for a more pricey $2,500 even through other resellers.

Either way you go, both Amazon and Best Buy best the official Apple Store prices, which is hawking its own hardware for at least $100 more than the lowest price we mentioned. And that’s without having to pay a middleman to sell the computers on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

MacBook Air Black Friday Deals

The MacBook Air selling for $949.99 at Best Buy, which is $150 off the normal $1099.99 price. That kind of negates the whole $150 gift card Apple is trying to waive around when buying a new computer on Black Friday. You get to keep for $150 in the case of Best Buy and spend it wherever you’d like - or save it.

The 11-inch MacBook Air is also a tad more expensive, retailing for $1,049.99 at Best Buy when it’s normally $1,199.99. Again, that’s a $150 savings over the Apple Store price. It should be noted that this model number MD712LL/A is the higher-end pre-configured model of the MacBook Air.

Best Buy wins three out of four Black Friday deals compared to Amazon, which scored with the 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display. However, we all learned a valuable lesson today: the Apple Black Friday deals aren’t what they used to be, at least in the U.S.
