Driveclub News: The latest game that is rumored to be headed for a delay is PS4 launch game Driveclub, rumored to be delayed until Spring 2014.
Earlier this year Sony revealed that Driveclub would be a launch game for PS4 and that PS Plus users would get a stripped down version for free. Recent rumors indicate that might not be the case after all. Following on the heels of the Watch Dogs delay, rumors are now circulating that Driveclub might suffering a similar fate, perhaps being pushed back until Spring 2014.
A website called The Same Coin first reported on this rumor with “anonymous sources” and then later on Kotaku picked up on it talking to their own sources within Sony. While The Same Coin might not be a familiar site to most people, Kotaku undoubtedly does have sources, however, Sony has refused to provide any official comment. That isn’t any surprise really as most companies will give you the “we don’t comment on rumors and speculation” line, and rightfully so. We have all seen what happens when there is mixed messaging so a company like Sony wants to make sure everything is official before giving out an official comment or issuing a press release.
Kotaku also pointed out that Sony was set to hold an event in San Francisco today to show off the PS4 and Driveclub was mysteriously pulled from the lineup in the eleventh hour. With Driveclub being one of the games being heavily advertised as a free title for PS Plus users on day one, what will Sony do if it does indeed get delayed? Will they offer another title in it’s place or simply ask for everyone’s patience while the game gets finished and then offer it for free at that time.
While delays are obviously a disappointment people also need to keep in mind that they are often for the best. While I really wanted to try out Driveclub on day one, if it gets delayed I know I will get an even better game once it hits store shelves in the Spring or whenever it gets released. What do you think about this rumor? Do you think there is any truth to it?
