Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero are the free games this month on Xbox Live

News: Enforce justice in Pacific City or try and save your loved one from becoming a zombie in August’s free games for XBox Live Gold members.

Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be the free games on XBox Live for the month of August according to Major Nelson. Beginning today, the award winning Crackdown is now available to download for absolutely free as long as you are an Xbox Live Gold member. Crackdown will remain as a free title for the next two weeks until it rotates out of the lineup for Dead Rising 2. On August 16th both Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will both be free to download for XBox Live Gold members. If somehow you aren’t familiar with these titles a brief premise for each game is below:

Crackdown

““Crackdown” pushes the action-driving hybrid genre into the next generation with the first ever truly 3-D playground. Gamers will enforce justice by any means necessary in Pacific City, a crime-ridden urban center built to encourage the exploration of the full width, depth and height of the city. Coupled with highly innovative co-op gameplay — a genre first — and an interactive world where nearly anything can be used as a weapon, gamers will be able to create a volatile cocktail of judicial oppression as they clean up the streets.”

Dead Rising 2

“Dead Rising 2 will introduce players to a new protagonist named Chuck Greene whose Motocross background and tragic past has brought him to America’s new gambling playground, Fortune City. He is there to compete in “Terror is Reality”, a gruesome game show that dares contestants to survive zombie-filled environments for big money prizes at the delight of TV audiences around the globe. Chuck’s motivation for taking part and risking life and limb is his daughter Katey, who since being bitten by a zombie, requires a daily dose of Zombrex to prevent her from turning into one of the living dead. During his time in Fortune City, a zombie outbreak occurs and Chuck is blamed for the incident.Over the next 72 hours, he must survive the onslaught of the undead and clear his name. Pitted against two fearsome threats – tens of thousands of zombies and the constant countdown of the clock – while potentially rescuing other survivors of the zombie apocalypse, Chuck must also unravel the greater conspiracy behind the outbreak and just as importantly, find the Zombrex necessary to stop Katey from joining the ever growing zombie horde.”

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero

“Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is set two years after the Willamette incident chronicled in the original Dead Rising and three years before the action of Dead Rising 2.

Chuck Greene’s idyllic life was shattered during the Las Vegas zombie outbreak. His wife was killed and his young daughter, Katey, was bitten and infected. Now he has fled Vegas with Katey and must find more doses of Zombrex for her to ensure the zombification process does not become complete. He must also avoid military check points or else, given the strict quarantine regulations in force, risk losing his daughter.”
