News: As Microsoft begins the process to retire Microsoft points you will no longer be able to earn them as a reward beginning on August 1.
Microsoft recently sent out an email to Xbox Live Rewards members talking about some changes that are going to be taking place within the program. As you have all probably heard by now Microsoft Points are going away by the end of the year and will be replaced by your local currency. Any Microsoft Points that you have in your account during the transition will be converted to your local currency so you don’t have to worry about losing out on any of your money.
With all of these changes, Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live Rewards will be evolving as well. Beginning on August 1, you will not be able to earn Microsoft Points through Xbox Live Rewards any longer. You will continue to get rewarded for doing what you have been, just not with MS points. Microsoft has promised more information will follow on September 1 where they will give everyone all of the details. You can also follow them @XboxLiveRewards on Twitter to get the latest updates.
Additionally, beginning on August 7, Microsoft will be depositing all of your pending Reward Points into your account, even if you have less than 100 points. For those you don’t know, 100 points was the minimum you could have before Microsoft would deposit anything in to your account.
