CoD Ghost Story News: With the Nov. 5 release date of CoD Ghost confirmed, speculation turns to the story of the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game also bound for PS4 and Xbox 720.

CoD Ghost story

Call of Duty: Ghosts was recently revealed by Activision as the next game in their billion dollar franchise, and now we are hearing that Infinity Ward is taking the CoD Ghost story in a new direction.

Instead of continuing on with the CoD MW4 plot, the developer has reportedly decided to change things up a bit and launch a new sub-brand within the Call of Duty franchise. In addition to the brand new engine built for CoD Ghost, the new game is said to take place in the near future with modern weapons.

Of course, since that news hasn’t come from Activision directly, it can only be taken as a rumor at this point. Going with that theory, however, CoD: Ghosts is supposed to feature a new storyline with a new cast of characters. That might seem to be an obvious statement, but I know there are those out there wondering if “Ghost” from previous Modern Warfare games will make an appearance in this CoD: Ghosts.

While we can’t confirm 100 percent either way until we get closer to the CoD Ghost release date, it seems highly unlikely at this point as Infinity Ward will keep the Modern Warfare brand apart from the Ghosts sub-brand. That being said, anything can change, so we’ll have to wait till November 5 to find out what happens.

Other than that, there isn’t a tremendous amount of official CoD: Ghost information outside of the Activision teaser. Within the teaser trailer we saw examples of a bunch of different groups adorning their gear such as a Spartan, a Samurai and, at the end of the trailer, the CoD Ghosts completely decked out in their gear. What can we really ascertain from this trailer? In CoD: Ghosts, will be traveling the world visiting a bunch of different groups and ethnicities? Will there be some time travel element similar to the Black Ops titles?

More CoD Ghost story details to come

More information on CoD: Ghosts will be revealed in approximately two weeks during Microsoft’s big unveiling for the new Xbox (currently referred to as the Xbox 720). At that time not only will we learn what the actual name for the new Xbox is but we will see more footage from CoD: Ghosts and we should begin to see Infinity Ward’s vision take shape. Then, of course, E3 is less than three weeks after that where I am sure CoD: Ghosts will have a new trailer and/or gameplay to show off both at the Microsoft press conference and at the Activision booth itself on the show floor.

What do you want from Call of Duty: Ghosts? Are you going to pre-order CoD Ghost? Will you be getting the next-gen version for Xbox 720 and PS4 or will you stay with the Xbox 360 and PS3?
