GTA 5 PS4, Xbox 720 News: Grand Theft Auto on PS3 and Xbox 360 or PS4 and Xbox 720. The choice you may have to make in the future.
GTA 5 for PS4 and Xbox 720 will happen “eventually,” predicted Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who followed up that comment with the disclaimer: “Not at launch.”
"If you go back to the PlayStation 3 E3, the 06 E3, they showed Red Dead Redemption, remember?” asked the outspoken analyst.
“What year did that bad boy come out? 2010? It only took four years, and it was shown, it was shown during a launch event. So that's about the pace I think Rockstar is on. I think Rockstar will have a game before the PS5."
With that sort of pace, it may be safe to get the Xbox 360 and PS3 version on the Sept. 17
GTA 5 release date.
More GTA 5 on PS4, Xbox 720 forecasting
Pachter’s speculation echos what Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz said earlier this month.
"We think there also could be some impact on the legs of likely GTA 5 downloadable content as the next-gen installed base increases through 2014,” said Creutz.
“However, we suspect Take-Two may have plans to eventually publish GTA 5 on the next set of consoles in some form to offset this."
For now, though, the only confirmed versions of GTA 5 are on Xbox 360 and PS3, with Rockstar Games staying mum on its plans for PS4 and Xbox 720 video game development.
In the meantime, everyone can rewatch the
GTA 5 second trailer and just imagine what it’d look like on next-generation console.
