PS Vita Firmware 2.0 News: PS Vita firmware update 2.0 lets you download six games including Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Final Fantasy Tactics thanks to PlayStation Plus.

PlayStation Vita firmware 2.0 update

Sony rolled out PlayStation Vita firmware 2.0 this morning, extending the membership of PS Plus to its handheld system. By extension, this update means free games and deep discounts for PS Vita, just like its bigger brother, PS3.

Free for PlayStation Plus members are six Vita games: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, WipEout 2048, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, Jet Set Radio and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Other PlayStation Plus perks making the PS3-to-Vita transition are an extra 1GB of cloud storage space and auto-updates.

PlayStation Plus for PS Vita costs $5 a month if you’re not already a subscriber. If you are, the service comes to Vita for free (aka, the same price you’re paying on PS3).

On PS3, the free games trend extends to Dungeon Defenders and Sonic Bundle: Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 and deep discounts involve Sega games and PlayStation Move-enabled Sorcery.

Firmware 2.0 for PlayStation Vita went live on Nov. 20 at midnight, according to Sony. The company also says that PS Vita also supports 1080p video playback, closed captioning, tweaked the UI and added a new email app for up five email accounts.

Check on the video below for a visual presentation of the PS Vita firmware 2.0 update and check back for more news on future announcements about the bigger, more worthwhile PlayStation Plus.
