New BioShock Infinite Release Date News: When does BioShock Infinite release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC? February 26, 2013. You won't get it this year or see it at E3 2012.

BioShock Infinite release date

It looks like BioShock Infinite won't be receiving the lion's share of ?Game of the Show? awards at E3 2012 next month. The highly anticipated FPS title from 2K Games and Irrational Games has been delayed and it won't be making an appearance at E3. Parent company Take-Two Interactive sent us a press release this morning stating that the worldwide launch of BioShock Infinite is now February 26, 2013.

The BioShock Infinite delay is a major blow to all gamers who enjoy story-driven single-player shooters and who expected the release date to be October 16, 2012. Sure, the holiday season is going to be jam-packed with first-person shooters a-plenty. But BioShock Infinite has a very different feel compared to fall rivals Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Halo 4 and Far Cry 3.

Of course, while any video game delay is a depressing news to fans, the opportunity to make an already-promising game even better comes with a postponed release date. In fact, Ken Levine, Creative Director at Irrational Games, stated just that.

?When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, ? Levine is quoted in the press release ?we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we've uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we've decided to move the game's release to February.?

To deliver on that promise, Levine also said that BioShock Infinite will be bowing out of E3 2012 and Gamescom. ?Preparing for these events takes time away from development, time we're going to use instead to get the best version of Infinite into your hands in February.? Let's hope something like Grand Theft Auto V makes an appearance at the Take-Two booth and makes up for the BioShock Infinite delay and no-show.
