The newly announced F1 2012 release date on Xbox 360, PC and PC is September, making this the third year in a row that license-holder Codemasters has been able to turnaround an F1 game - F1 2011 and F1 2010 also had September release dates during their respective years. F1 2009 came out in November of that year. Weя┐╜ll cut Codemasters some slack, though, as it was their first year with the license.
F1 2012, despite the speedy turn around, is looking sharp, as demoed in this developer diary video uploaded to YouTube. In it, F1 2012 creative director Stephen Hood shows off the Young Driver Test, which is supposed to make you feel like youя┐╜re becoming an F1 driver with a range of new tutorials. Formula One cars are powerful and responsive, so itя┐╜s more than appropriate.
In the two-minute video, Hood also talks to F1 racers and gets their opinion of F1 2012. я┐╜Whatя┐╜s your impression now?я┐╜ He asks Fabio Leimer, Sauber F1 Team driver. я┐╜I feel felt like [before], it was too much like an arcade game. But now I have to say itя┐╜s really good.я┐╜
AN even better testimonial of the F1 franchise comes from Stefano Coletti, Scuderia Toro Rosso driver. я┐╜When I came to Abu Dhabi, I could go to the simulator, so I switched on the video game and decided to play on Abu Dhabi. And it actually worked. When I got here, I felt like I had already driven. It was my first racing GP2 and I won in the first race. It actually helped.я┐╜
Not bad. Weя┐╜ll see how much this yearя┐╜s game is able to amp up the realism when F1 2012я┐╜s release date of September rolls around
