SWTOR 1.2 News: A new Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Update 1.2 video hit YouTube today and we gives you the info on what to expect before the patch's release date.

News about SWTOR Game Update 1.2 Legacy family tree

Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Update 1.2 and its April release date are almost here. But before that patch release date rolls onto EA's Origin servers, developer BioWare is giving everyone a video demo of the Legacy system in its latest SWTOR Game Update 1.2 YouTube trailer. This five-minute video details how you'll be able to link different characters into a single family, allowing you to properly reveal to a whole host of characters that ?I am your father.?

?One of the most famous relationships in cinema is the relationship between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker,? said BioWare studio creative director James Ohlen in the behind-the-scenes trailer. ?There's a lot of fans out there who want to have their own Skywalker-type family tree. And the ability to create your own last name and to create essentially own family dynamic is going to appeal to a lot of players.?

Besides plugging in your Legacy Surname into the menu and starting a family tree, the Game Update 1.2 patch for SWTOR will add new gameplay modes. Expect a continuation of the Kaon Under Siege Flashpoint in Lost Island, a new high-level operation called Explosive Conflict and a new Warzone called Novare Coast. Beyond this content, Bioware promises features like an updated customizable user interface, high-resolution textures, guild banks, warzone ranking, and optimizations to combat balance. Still, the reason the Legacy system stands out the most and deserves its own YouTube video dedicated to the family tree is because it's so unique.

?No one's ever really done a system where their characters have these ties,? said senior game designer William Wallace. ?People sometimes like to imagine that their characters are related to each other, but it has been part of our design to actually make that official since the very early stages of the game.?

This is just another example of how SWTOR takes the MMO, adds story-driven appeal and becomes an MMO most people can actually care about. As other MMOs goes F2P, SWTOR Game Update 1.2 adds enough to keep its subscribers in the pay-to-play mood. We'll have more information on SWTOR Game Update 1.2 as the release date in April nears.
