Halo 4 release date to be announced in the ?not-too-crazy-distant future'

Halo 4 Release Date News: So far, the Halo 4 release date is within the wide window of Holiday 2012. A news bulletin from the developer says that should change soon.

The release date for Halo 4 is so far pegged for ?Holiday 2012.? That's a wide window, for sure. However, according to franchise director Frank O'Connor, the precise release date for this highly anticipated Xbox 360 game is going to be announced soon. In his words, ?the actual ship date (and other details) will be rolled out in the not-too-crazy-distant future.? That appeared as an answer on a Halo 4 news bulletin posted to the official Halo Waypoint website yesterday.

In addition to talking about the Halo 4 release date, O'Connor answers 41 other questions from Halo fans. He does a good job of clearing up confusion about multiplayer perks, vows support for machinima in Halo 4 (though no new details are given) and how there be story in both the campaign mode and multiplayer.

This week has been a big reveal week for the Xbox 360 game, with a new Halo 4 behind-the-scenes trailer and first three screenshots. Previously, our only glimpse at Master Chief's return to the Xbox 360 was in the E3 2011 trailer. There should be a lot more to come with E3 2012 coming up in June - by then, Microsoft should have the Halo 4 release date squared away.
