Darksiders 2 News: The Darksiders sequel is due out June 26, but THQ wants you to embrace Death now with GameStop, Amazon and Best Buy pre-order incentives.
We learned today that Darksiders 2 (read our Darksiders 2 preview) has a release date of June 26. Of course, THQ wants Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers to embrace Death right now and is giving them pre-order incentives if they put money down before that release date.
Pre-ordering from GameStop nets gamers the ?Death Rides? pack, which, as THQ describes, features ?multiple exclusive side-quests, this pack allows the most fearless adventurers to explore more of the Maker's Realm and Dead Plains and earn additional experience and loot. Aid an ancient Construct, battle The Bloodless and retrieve Karn's lost treasure in around two hours of unique game play content.?
Best Buy pre-orderers, meanwhile, unlock the ?Angel of Death? pack, giving them an edge ?with a unique set of enhanced armor with an angel inspired design as well as a pair of upgraded matching scythes and a exclusive visual trail for your companion crow Dust.?
Finally, pre-ordering from online retailer Amazon.com nets them the ability to ?ride into battle with increased speed thanks to the ?Deadly Despair' pack. This unique pre-order offer adds an additional speed boost for Death's trusty steed Despair, allowing players to travel across the vast world even faster than before. This perk is a permanent increase that will last throughout the game.?
So, as it stands GameStop is offering two hours of additional quests, Best Buy is handing out an extra piece or armor and an upgrade to the main weapon, and Amazon is giving its pre-orderers the ability to travel faster on Despair, Death's horse. There's no word on whether or not this DLC will be available at an additional cost to gamers who buy the game post-release date.
