FIFA Street News: EA's new soccer game shows up in video form, drops the cartoon look, and adds EA Sports Season Ticket for early full-demo access on PS3, Xbox 360.
The FIFA Street reboot in 2012 will technically be FIFA Street 4, but you'd never know it from watching the game's debut trailer at Gamescom 2011 in Germany. The cartoony graphics of the previous games were lost in the almost four-year gap between FIFA Street 3 and this new title. Furthermore, the tentatively named FIFA Street 2012 takes advantage of FIFA Soccer 12's more realistic engine, marrying authentic gameplay with more realistic-looking graphics.
FIFA Street 2012 won't venture too far from the parking lot and stripped-down sports arenas, however. The soccer gameplay will consist of unique street dribbling styles and trick moves to spice up the smaller one-on-one and 5v5 tournaments. These small-time tournaments will include big-time soccer stars, as EA promises to fill the new FIFA Street roster with soccer players from the most popular clubs in the world. They'll joined real-life street players and play street ball throughout the game's 35 locations around the globe.
The one-minute gameplay trailer is full of slick soccer moves, demoing a one-touch passing system, precision passes and some of the 50-plus new skill moves. However, we're still waiting to see EA's other promise: the debut of aerial skills to maneuver past opponents. The company is also planning a host of modes and online features to be revealed in the months ahead, so stay tuned for more updates on FIFA Street 2012, starting with a much-needed official name.
